Stamps and Rubber Stamping

Confession time: I love my stamps. I love them so much that if I had to chose between them and my husband... well, let's just say it would be a very painful decision to make (and he is well aware of that.)

Stickers, die-cuts and rub-ons are wonderful tools that provide a lot of variety in card making. But stamps allow so many more versatile ways to decorate your cards.

And one big benefit is that you can use these little guys again and again - they don't disappear when you give your card away.

There are some additional basic tools you will need for this particular type of card making.

Rubber Stamps

Well, of course you'll need these silly! They come in a large variety of images and manners.

The most traditional form is a rubber stamp, in which the image is carved into rubber and then mounted on a block of wood. Some people like to leave them on the blocks to store them, but many are starting to 'un-mount' them for storage purposes and use a temporary adhesive when they are ready to use the image.

Acrylic Stamps

Acrylic stamps have become very popular lately for a couple of reasons. They are typically bought on a flat piece of plastic, which is great for storage purposes because they take up a lot less room.

To use them, you peel them off the plastic and mount them (temporarily) on a clear plastic block. The great thing about this is that you can see through both the block and the image, so you always know exactly where your image will end up!

Magnetic Stamps

Magnetic stamps are similar to acrylics in that they store in a flat container and you mount them when you are ready to use them.

It's another nice storage solution that doesn't take up a lot of space. Since they are magnets you can store them on many different surfaces. But unlike acrylics, you cannot see through them when stamping.

There are many others, but these are the types you'll see most often.
