Stamping Off
Stamping off is a simple and very easy way to extend your inventory of
ink colors. With just one inkpad you can get three, or sometimes even
four, different shades of the same ink!
Supplies Needed for the
Kissing technique:
One darker shade ink pads (the more times you'll stamp off, the darker
the shade you will want)
Solid image stamp(s)
White or off-white cardstock
Additional Supplies used
on this card:
Simple card base
Layering cardstock
Flower embellishment
Rhinestone brad
Pop-dot adhesive
Glue

Step 1: Grab your cardstock, stamp and inkpad

Step 2: Ink up the stamp really well. You need to make sure
you get it good and juicy with ink!

Step 3: Press the stamp image down onto the cardstock one time.

Step 4: Move the image over slightly without re-inking and stamp it
again. Do this step as many times as you want the images. I stopped at
three, but have stamped as many as six with a darker shade of ink. (I'm
a rebel that way..)
This is what the images will look like. You will see a progression from
darker ink to lighter ink as you stamped the image each time.

Now the finishing touches to complete the card. I inked up a
sentiment stamp.

And with the darkest
shade (no stamping off) I pressed the image right
on top of the lightest colored image.
Then I took the butterfly's body and also did the stamping off
technique with it as I went down the line of images.

This is what it looked like when it was done.
Small break in the
program for a PSA (Public Service Announcement)
If you ever have issues getting your unmounted stamps to stay on the
acrylic block, I've found that either a dab of mono-adhesive will help
keep it stuck down, or even Aleene's Tack-it is good too.
Now back to your
regularly scheduled program...
Almost ready to finish it off. I've got the rest of my
supplies handy...

Grab the flower embellishment (and ignore my odd-looking hand - I just
couldn't get the flower to stay upright without holding it.) and if you
have a rhinestone brad thread it through the hole in the flower.

Separate the edges of the brad on the back of the flower. Press them
down and then stick a pop-it (a.k.a. "dimensional") down on top of it.
Set it aside for the next few steps.

Glue down your first layer.

And then glue down the
stamped layer of cardstock. (Hello little flower, waiting so patiently
on the side!)

Okay, now we stick down that cute little flower embellishment.
And the card is done!
Keep this simple, easy technique in mind the next time you need a
little extra something but don't want to spend money on new supplies!
