Adding Dimension to your
Cards with Embossing
Embossing is a great way to add some dimension to your cards
with little effort involved. And sometimes you need a project that
doesn't take very much time or effort!

Tools Needed:
- Paper trimmer or scissors and ruler
- Simple
Card Base & Envelope
- Cardstock for layering
- Cardstock to emboss
- Light table
- Embossing Template
- Embossing Pen
- Adhesive
- Other decorative items

Step 1: Trim your layering cardstock to 5 1/4 by 4
inches so that it will lay evenly on your card base with an equal
amount of the card base showing on all sides

Step 2: Trim the cardstock that you will emboss.
This can be any size as long as it is smaller than the layering
cardstock - you want to be able to offset the top piece with something
of contrasting color.

Step 3: Take a tiny piece of two-sided tape and put
it on the back of your top cardstock piece. Use this tape to secure the
paper to the template so it won't move around while you are working.

Step 4: Place the cardstock and embossing template
on top of a light table. Make sure you can see the design of the
template through the cardstock.

Step 5: Using the embossing pen, trace the outline
of the template.

If your pen has two sides, use the smaller side to get into the parts
of the template that are harder to get into.
Tip: If you want to emboss on a dark piece
of paper that you cannot see through, you can do so by 'scratching' the
pen across the back of the paper in a smooth, even motion. It takes
more time and work, but you can't tell the difference from the front of
the card when you are done!
Step 6: Remove the cardstock
from the template and make sure you've gotten all of the lines in your
template. If you see any spots that aren't fully embossed, carefully
replace the cardstock and go back over those areas.

Step 7: Make any other cuts or trims to the
cardstock and then adhere the layers to your card base.

Step 8: Add any other embellishments to your card
that you would like.

Beautiful! Wasn't that fun?
