Coloring: Color Me Happy!
Oh I just love coloring! There really is a
big kid in me that never grew up and just wants to draw and color all
day long.
This is such a simple technique, and relatively quick if you
don't get too perfectionistic about staying in the lines. Which, let's
be honest, one of the best things about handmade crafts is those extra
special touches like a little bit of outside-of-the-lines handiwork.
But I digress...

Tools you will need for this technique:
- Colored Pencils
- Stamp image
- Stamp Cleaner and scrubbing pad (or baby wipes)
- Black waterproof ink
- Simple
Card Base & Envelope
- Bone folder

Step 1: Take your simple card base and fold it over,
creasing it neatly with your bone folder.

Step 2: Ink up your stamp image with the black ink.
Depending on how large your image is, it might be easier to turn the
stamp upside down and tap the ink pad on top of it a few times until
the image is nice and juicy with ink.

Yep, that's good and juicy!

Step 3: Once you're inked up, flip the stamp over
and carefully place it on the cardstock. Press down firmly, but be
careful not to rock the stamp. This can lead to double-images, smudges,
and all sorts of other nasty stamping side-effects.

Ahhh, that's beautiful...
Now grab those colorful little pencils.

Step 4: Using your colored pencils, being to fill in
the image. Start with the lighter colors first and then go back over
with the darker colors for lighting effects.

Sometimes I'll start with the landscaping elements first and then work
my way in.
If you have a tricky image like this one - with no real end to
the sky or grass - you can create a visual ending by coloring in a
circle. It's a nice effect that kind of 'spotlights' the image in the
center of the card.

I like to add a little pop of color - in this example it's the girl's
dress that has a pretty butter yellow color that really stands out
against the blue sky.

Here's my finished card. Simple. Quick. Beautiful.
It doesn't get much better than that!
